The Sumner School District, with over 7,500 students, is one of the fastest
growing districts in the Puget Sound area. It covers approximately 38 square
miles in east Pierce County, including the cities of Sumner and Bonney Lake.
Located in the heart of the Puyallup Valley, the district is both rural and
suburban in character. Situated close to the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan
corridor, the area is rich in natural beauty. The Cascade Mountains and majestic
Mt. Rainier dominate the east while quaint harbors and sheltered islands of
Puget Sound beckon from the west. Within easy driving distance from the school
district boundaries is something for everyone.

Special Features of District:
The Sumner School District is a cooperative
learning organization comprised of students, parents, staff and community. Our
focus is on providing a rewarding educational experience for students.
We strive to ensure a
high return on the educational investment of our stockholders, the patrons of
the Sumner School District. As we work toward our goal of student success, we
continue to chart improvements in student achievement and prepare students for
their 13th year, the year beyond high school graduation.
Locally, we have a
well-earned reputation of providing the highest level of service and for our
commitment to increasing student achievement. With a strong pledge to serve
children and their families, established community partnerships support learning
initiatives that ensure a quality education for every child. State
Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Terry Bergeson says that Sumner School
District “delivers a private school education at a public school cost.”
