Our Mission Statement:
Tukwila School District educates all students in the pursuit
of personal and academic excellence, strengthening our diverse community.

Our
District:
Tukwila
School District has five schools: Foster High School,
Showalter Middle School, Cascade View Elementary School,
Thorndyke Elementary School, and Tukwila Elementary School
for a total student enrollment of 2,700. We are proud of a
multi-cultural and multi-lingual student population that
speaks over 55 world languages. Over 33% of our students are
English Language Learners.
Tukwila schools are just the right size to personalize
education, big enough to foster diversity, and small enough
where everyone knows your name.
Our voters consistently support bond and levy issues which
result in well-maintained facilities for our students.

Tukwila School District currently employs 189 certificated staff members, 30 of
which are Nationally Board Certified in their field.
All staff will participate in professional development on “SMART Wednesdays”. On
most Wednesdays, there will be 90 minute late starts when staff will have time
to collaborate, share ideas and experiences, and learn from each other. Staff
will pool their intellect, talent, and experiences to better themselves,
individually and as a group to benefit students. This time will be used for
District-sponsored professional development activities as determined by a
District professional development committee.
Our competitive compensation package salaries range from $40,625.00 for a
beginning teacher with a Bachelor’s degree, $48,467.00 for a beginning teacher
with a Master’s degree to $77,809.00 for a tenured teacher.

Our
Location:
Tukwila School
District is located just 15 miles south of Seattle,
Washington. With a population of 17,900 and just 8.6 square
miles in size, Tukwila prides itself on its small community
feel, yet offers all the amenities that make large urban
environments successful.
Tukwila’s offerings are abundant and full of life. From the
urban trails meandering through the city (Interurban Trail
and Green-Duwamish River Trail), to the parks sprinkled
through our city, there is no shortage of outdoor thrills
for the active lifestyle. Entertainment, shopping, and
family activities are all around. With millions of square
feet of retail stores in the Southcenter Core, visitors can
find every desired urban amenity, whether movie theaters,
bowling centers, ethnic foods, to au courant fashions. No
matter what people are looking to find or enjoy, it’s
waiting to be discovered in Tukwila.
